How to get there

Fiechter cabin is located above Fontana Bianca/Weißbrunn in Santa Gertrude/Sankt Gertraud in Val d’Ultimo/Ultental Valley, near Merano/Meran. Drive from Merano/Meran to the Val d’Ultimo/Ultental Valley till Santa Gertrude/Sankt Gertraud and from there up to Fontana Bianca/Weißbrunn. Here you can leave your car in the free car park at the lake.  

In Lana take the turning to Val d’Ultimo/Ultental Valley and continue driving uphill along a winding road. Having driven through the first village San Pancazio/Sankt Pankraz and some tunnels you pass the first of two artificial lakes. Pass through the next village, named Santa Valburga/Sankt Walburg. About 1 kilometre further on you reach the second artificial lake and the village of Pracupola/Kuppelwies from where you can see a cable car going straight ahead to the Schwemmalm ski area. Drive further and pass San Nicolò/Sankt Nikolaus, till you reach the last village Santa Gertrude/Sankt Gertraud, at the valley’s end. Either you can park and start your hike from here or you drive up to Fontana Bianca/Weißbrunn. The turnoff is found on the right hand side of the main road. A steep narrow winding road leads up you to beautiful Lake Weißbrunn with its free car park.  

To start your day in the most relaxed way, you can travel to Val d’Ultimo/Ultental Valley by the regular bus service. At every SAD bus stop going to Val d’Ultimo/Ultental it is possible to get on the bus. A minibus departing from St.Walburg takes you to Weißbrunn.

The GuestCard, MeranCard etc. can be validated directly on the bus. The Fiechter alp can be reached by different hiking trails. People with disabilities can drive to the hut throughout the summer months if they bring their handicapped ID with them.
